The most common type of bone disease, osteoporosis (literally "porous bones" in Greek) is when bones lose density, causing them to become fragile and weak. This can lead to painful breaks and fractures, which is easier to do because of the brittle bones. Osteoporosis is a disease that is most commonly linked to women (it is estimated that one in 50 women over the age of 50 have the disease); however, osteoporosis effects all of us. Anyone can develop the disease if he or she does not take the proper precautions at a young age and pay attention to what it takes to keep bones healthy.

A great way to help prevent the disease is to take osteoporosis supplements.
